Description:
Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm is a 500-hectare estate located in the Shakiso district of Guji, Ethiopia, spanning the neighbouring villages of Taro and Sewana in the Oromia region. Owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012, the farm has become renowned for producing exceptional Ethiopian coffees through meticulous cultivation and processing practices.
Approximately 300 hectares of the estate are dedicated to coffee production, grown under the shade of acacia and indigenous trees that help protect the coffee plants while naturally enriching the soil through composting. At elevations ranging from 1,900–2,200 metres above sea level, the farm’s unique microclimate and high-altitude conditions contribute to the remarkable clarity and complexity found in the cup.
This naturally processed Heirloom lot delivers a vibrant and expressive profile, showcasing delicate jasmine florals layered with juicy apricot sweetness and bright berry notes. The cup is elegant yet intensely fruit-driven, with a silky texture and refined sweetness that linger long after each sip.
Beyond coffee quality, Kayon Mountain is deeply connected to its local community, providing employment, transportation services, and financial support for schools and infrastructure projects. Through careful stewardship of both land and people, Ismael and his family continue to produce coffees that reflect the richness, tradition, and innovation of Ethiopia’s celebrated Guji region.
